Shibu Toge Pass is a mountain pass located on the border between Nagano and Gunma Prefectures.
The observation point, the highest point on a Japanese national highway, offers a panoramic view of the Yoshigadaira wetlands below. In the early morning, a sea of clouds forms, creating a picture-perfect view.
On the Gunma side, the pass is close to Kusatsu Onsen, one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Japan. Elsewhere, the Nagano side has the Shiga Kogen ski resort and the Shibu hot springs, offering delightful relaxation on the way to your destination.
Please note that the road is closed in winter.
