Alpine Plants

Ozegahara Marsh [Gunma / Fukushima]

Ozegahara Marsh is one of the most famous wetlands in Japan.

Located in the center of Oze National Park, Ozegahara is surrounded by 2000-meter-high mountains and covers an area of about 650 hectares, making it the largest mountain wetland in Japan.

The wide-open, unobstructed landscape is perfect to clear your mind. The air is clean as the area is located in a basin surrounded by high mountains.

It takes about an hour to half a day to go around the area, but staying overnight is also recommended so that you can enjoy the fantastic early morning scenery. Be sure to pack comfortable walking shoes and warm clothes for your visit.
