The terraced rice field of Hoshi-Toge is one of the most famous terraced rice fields in Japan.
At Hoshi-Toge, more than 200 small paddies create a mysterious landscape. They are especially beautiful in the early mornings of late June and September when a sea of clouds forms, and many tourists come to see the spectacular view.
When the water is still, the shimmering mirror-like surface of the terraced rice paddies and the diffused reflection of the sea of clouds create a fantastic scene. This is the best place to take pictures of the ancient landscape of Japan.
The terraced rice fields are the private property of the farmers. Please be considerate when sightseeing and taking photos.
